It was reported by this
website on June 2, 2008 that the brooch worn by then newly elected Governor
General Quentin Bryce was constructed using the Bindeez
art toy famous for its narcotic effect on children.
A statement from Moose Enterprises, distributor of the Bindeez toy, notes that since the recall of the original toy, a replacement bead activity toy has been made available to consumers, known as Beados. ‘The bead has been reformulated with safer ingredients,’ the statement from the company reads, and notes that ‘the ingredients are a trade secret.’ It is unclear whether Ms Bryce’s
brooch was made using the contraband Bindeez or the apparently safe Beados. |
